Beyond the DVC Bubble: Our Surprising Spring Break Gem at Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek’s Presidential Reserve

Spring Break 2025 had a unique itinerary for our family. Fresh off an incredible 7-day voyage on the brand new Disney Cruise Line ship, the Treasure, we weren’t quite ready to head home. Instead of our usual Disney Vacation Club (DVC) haunts, we decided to try something different for a few nights of post-cruise unwinding at the end of March 2025: a stay at Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek. It proved to be an amazing way to transition from the high energy of the cruise!

Now, for DVC veterans like us, whose “home resorts” are typically the luxurious Riviera or the iconic Grand Floridian, venturing outside the official Disney property bubble felt like a bit of a system shock. We booked a 2-bedroom Presidential Reserve room at Club Wyndham, located in the sophisticated Bonnet Creek area – neighbours include the Waldorf Astoria, JW Marriott, and Signia by Hilton. While technically “off-property,” it’s nestled remarkably close to the Disney magic.

First Impressions & Spring Break Serenity

Pulling into Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek, any apprehension quickly faded. The resort complex is impressive, well-maintained, and buzzing with a relaxed vacation vibe, amplified by the fantastic Florida weather we enjoyed throughout our late March stay. Our Presidential Reserve room, located high up on the 15th floor of Tower 6, truly exceeded expectations. The quality, space, and furnishings were top-notch, easily comparable to the DVC villas we know and love. And the view? Simply amazing. What truly surprised us, especially during a prime Spring Break week, was how uncrowded and unrushed our specific tower and floor felt. It offered a welcome sense of calm.

Resort Living After the High Seas

Coming off a busy cruise, our plan was minimal park time and maximum relaxation, and Club Wyndham delivered perfectly. Our kids practically lived in the water! They absolutely adored the multiple pools and, especially, the winding lazy river. The resort also had plenty of fun games scattered around, keeping them entertained. Meanwhile, the dads found their happy place sampling the offerings at the Back Bay Bar & Grill– poolside drinks are always a good idea!

Location, Location, Location (and Convenience!)

Despite feeling like a self-contained oasis, the resort’s location is incredibly convenient. We did dedicate one day to park hopping and made the easy drive over to Hollywood Studios. The commute was smooth and surprisingly quick. Even better, Disney Springs, with its endless shopping and dining options, is just a stone’s throw away – perfect for an evening outing.

An EV Enthusiast’s Dream

As a tech and electric vehicle enthusiast, I was genuinely impressed by Club Wyndham’s EV infrastructure. They have numerous ChargePoint EV stations readily available throughout the property. We had rented a Tesla Model Y via Turo for our Orlando leg, and charging it overnight was completely hassle-free. It’s fantastic to see resorts embracing EV charging so robustly.

The Crown Jewel: The Presidential Reserve Owner Club & Fireworks

Perhaps the best perk of staying in a Presidential Reserve unit was exclusive access to the Owner Club lounge. This elevated space offered comfortable seating, a welcoming atmosphere, and the absolute pièce de résistance: an unparalleled, panoramic view of both the Epcot and Magic Kingdom fireworks shows! One evening, we brought a bottle of wine up, settled in, and enjoyed the spectacular displays lighting up the night sky. Sharing the experience with other friendly Presidential Reserve owners in the pleasant Florida weather was a truly memorable highlight of our stay.

The Verdict: A Superb DVC Alternative for Relaxed Fun

Our stay at Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek was, in a word, fantastic. It was the perfect setting to unwind for a few nights after our crazy fun Disney Cruise. From the quality of the Presidential Reserve room and the fun amenities to the convenient location, lack of crowds in our tower (even during Spring Break!), and unexpected perks like the Owner Club fireworks view, it completely won us over. It proved to be a top-notch resort and a superb alternative to DVC villas.

As Club Wyndham Access (CWA) owners, we were thrilled with this experience and will definitely be using our points to return to Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek in the future. If you’re looking for a high-quality stay near Disney World, especially if you want spacious villa-style accommodations and great resort amenities without feeling overwhelmed, don’t hesitate to check it out!
